A Fun Fourth

This year we had a pretty low key fourth of July. In the morning David and Abuelo put in some hours on Finley's tree house they are building (pictures and details to come when it is completed). While Grammie, Finley, and I went to the pool. It was a little chilly and overcast at the pool, but they had a giant inflatable slide (which I couldn't convince Finley to do) but they also a bounce house, which luckily he did enjoy!

After our dip and lunch, we went to the movies to see Mall Cop 2 at Finley's request. Luckily it was pretty funny and it was showing at the dollar theater so we couldn't complain.

For dinner we ran to Cook Out to fill up on food and milkshakes and then headed over to K-Vegas to watch the fireworks. They had a great playground beside the viewing area which Finley really enjoyed. It had lots of areas to climb on and train for 'American Ninja Warrior'.

Finley in his patriotic outfit! And the balloon hat was still intact from our beach trip, but didn't quite stand up straight!

I love these cute boys so much!

Even though Grammie and Abuelo live in Kernersville, they had never been to the fireworks show there.

This was also Finley's first time staying up late for them. We enjoyed the playground, music, and playing in a big field while we waited for it to get dark. Luckily it wasn't too crowded either.

When it got dark we broke out our glow toys.

At last it was time for the fireworks!

And K-Vegas did not disappoint!

It was tricky getting some good photos of fireworks, but here are some of my favorites.

Finley loved the green and purple ones. I enjoy the fireworks that would shoot off in different directions after they exploded, and the ones the crackled.

I was also impressed by a couple that looked like star shapes. We had a fun and relaxing day celebrating our country! Maybe next year we will throw in a parade too. Happy Fourth of July!

Myrtle Beach

Last weekend cousin Gabi & Uncle Greg came to visit! We met up with them along with Grammie, Abuelo, and Greg's parents Nana and Pa Pa down at Myrtle Beach.

We got to stay at Grammie and Abuelo's new house/future retirement home and play at the beach at Nana and Pa Pa's resort.

With all the shark attacks lately we played it ultra safe and didn't go in past our knees.

Luckily Finley and Gabi had a great time jumping the waves and playing in the tidal pools.

Pa Pa, Greg, and Nana enjoyed getting some sun!

We found this cute little crab in the tidal pools.

And then took turns holding it!

Gabi was nervous at first, but eventually held it!

We also pretended to eat it. Poor little guy.

The weather was hot, but luckily we had many ways to cool off.

Nana and Pa Pa's resort had a great splash area with a couple of small slides.

Perfect for Finley and Gabi, oh yeah and David too.

You can't really go into the spray ground without getting drenched.

Finley and Gabi enjoyed seeing us get all wet!

Myrtle Beach is very different from Topsail where we normally go. Lots of people and resorts! Here is a view from Nana and Pa Pa's room.

Friday night while we were there Grammie and Abuelo treated us to dinner and a pirate show!

We all had so much fun!

Here is the Captain! Arrrgh!

And the crew was super impressive and athletic!

I am thinking some of the crew could do pretty well on American Ninja Warrior.

We enjoyed seeing lots of tricks on the trampoline and some impressive diving and flying through the air. Sometimes the crew would dive into the water and disappear. I guess they have some other way to get out.

There was also a fire breather. Is that what they are called?

And a few people who could hang from fabric.

Finley's favorite part was when the seals came out.

And luckily he didn't get too scared when the crew turned to ghosts and skeletons.

Or when a robotic Davey Jones emerged from the water.

In the end there was treasure enough to share!

Overall it was such a fun show and the kids loved it!

For father's day we bought Abuelo a birdhouse for their new place, but it needed to be decorated! Luckily we had some willing artists on hand. They did a great job and now it is ready for the new house!

Saturday we spent more time on the beach, this time in some inter tubes.

This kids had fun riding the little waves while we kept them from going in too deep!

And of course we visited the splash area again.

Finley's favorite part that day was the lazy river.

Nana Kate surprised Uncle Greg with an early birthday celebration since we were all together.

Greg turned the big 4-0 but he doesn't look it!

That night we headed to Broadway on the Beach for dinner and walking around.

The place we ate dinner at also made each person a fun balloon hat.

And we had to pose with the upside down building!

Finley was lucky he got a very patriotic hat. Maybe it will last until the 4th.

Here's the gang.

Cousin time is always so much fun!

While walking around we found a rock climbing station. Gabi really wanted to do it and scampered up like it was nothing! Finley decided against it. I wonder if he has a fear of heights.

I really think the picture on the left should be Grammie and Abuelo's Christmas card.

Here is a little lizard that lives and Grammie and Abuelo's house. The kids named her Samantha.

These two really enjoyed partying it up all weekend long!

All good things must come to an end. We will miss you Greg and Gabi! And we were sad Auntie Tami couldn't make it out this time. Thank you Grammie and Abuelo for a fun and exciting weekend at the beach!
