A Night Away...

For my birthday this year my mom got us a gift card to go and stay a night at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro. It is a very nice hotel, spa, and golf course. The weekend before Christmas the timing finally worked out for us to have a little getaway!

The hotel was decorated for Christmas!

The rooms were very nice and chic.

We kicked off our stay by watching the Tar Heels (in peace) pull out a much needed victory!

We then headed down to the spa for a couple's massage and to enjoy the indoor pools and hot tubs.

Once we got all cleaned up we enjoyed a fancy dinner for two where all I had to worry about was feeding myself! But of course the biggest treat was a full night's rest without interruption! 

Unfortunately the boys gave Mimi and Pop Pop a run for their money at night. Not sure they will be offering to stay the night again for a while! LOL!

But we can't thank them enough for such an amazing night away! It was so nice to be able to relax, take our time, have peace and quiet, and actually talk to one another! It was just what we needed!

And someone was very happy to see us when we arrived back home! I think they missed us. Thank you again Mimi and Pop Pop! Hopefully next time will be even easier on you! 

December Festivities

December has flown by! It is always such a busy month and I am so grateful that my semester of school is over by the time it rolls around! We tried to pick a few fun things to do with the family to get into the holiday spirit! 

First up the Greensboro Christmas Parade!

We lucked out with the weather and had a nice decently warm day to go watch the parade!

This is one of our friends daughters! She opened up her own studio this year and her dancers/company were in the parade!

I love that our local parade has real balloons!

And lots of marching bands!

The boys enjoyed eating their lunch and listening to the music.

The boys also danced and walked around a bit. It was actually a good thing we weren't in the front row!

Next up, Christmas decorations!

This year we were able to get all of our decorations out and up! The boys enjoy the lights on the tree!

And we made sure to guard it with their baby fence! LOL!

I still can't believe we actually fill up all of our stocking holders! It doesn't seem real sometimes.

We were also able to go see A Christmas Carol the Musical!

Miss Andrea's daughter Whitney was in the production and it was so great!

She did an awesome job and we had so much fun on our family date night!

Onto the Running of the Balls!

After taking last year off, I was bound and determined that we participate this year.

Again the weather cooperated so that the whole family could enjoy and participate in the race!

It is a fun, low key, 5kish race with lighted balls, music, hot chocolate, and cookies!

The boys did great riding in the stroller and taking it all in!

Finley was really tired from his basketball game earlier in the day, but he was a trooper, dug deep, and ran the whole race!

Way to go Fin man!

We also made time to make our annual holiday jalapeno pepper jelly to give out to friends and family. It's beginning to look and feel a lot like Christmas!

Thanksgiving

Well, Thanksgiving didn't go quite as planned! We originally planned to head to Myrtle Beach to spend time with David's parents, but unfortunately Abuelo ended up in the hospital. He was very lucky and everything is ok now thank goodness! 

Because Abuelo was in the hospital, David headed down to Myrtle Beach to be with his parents and the kids and I went to Chapel Hill so we wouldn't have to spend Thanksgiving alone. That's twice in the past 3 years we have had to spend it apart!

Before we headed to Chapel Hill, my good friend from high school Rizzo and her mom came for a visit. Hunter really took to Mama Rizzo!

When we did get to Chapel Hill we got to see Donovan, Michelle, and Eliza. Unfortunately, Donovan and Eliza had to head back to NY the next day.

Finley did soak up as much time with Uncle Donovan as he could though!

They played and built a fort that Finley "slept" in that night. Never. Again!

But he still had a good time despite my lack of sleep.

The day before Thanksgiving my mom and sister went to go help prep food at 411 for the team Thanksgiving dinner. The boys and I decided we needed to get out of the house so we went to University Mall. Finley got to "see" Roy Williams. LOL.

The boys got their first taste of ice cream from a Maple View farms kiosk! Yum!

We walked around, got some energy out, and took in the decorations!

The boys really enjoyed being at Mimi's house and I was grateful for any extra help I could get! Not having David at night was so rough and definitely took its toll on me.

One plus to being in Chapel Hill was that I got to have a girls night out with some of my high school besties!

On Thanksgiving we went to 411 west where the team would have Thanksgiving dinner. 

The boys enjoyed running around and helping set up!

Mimi and Michelle made some beautiful table decorations.

The timing of the "dinner" was right during the babies afternoon nap time so we weren't able to stay and enjoy the meal with everyone.

Luckily Mimi packed up some food for us and we were able to enjoy it that evening with David! Hooray! We were so glad to be back together again!

We didn't get to spend too much time with Pop Pop as his team was busy practicing and getting ready for their next big game!

During the day we took the boys the the Children's museum Kudzu in Chapel Hill. 

They really enjoyed exploring and climbing all over everything!

We can't wait to go back again!

While we were in town Pop Pop had a big game which they won to make it into the final four of the NCAA tournament! Go Heels! 

David and I stayed back with the babies, but Finley had a great time with Auntie Michelle and Mimi!

Even though things didn't go as planned this Thanksgiving we did our best to turn lemons into lemonade. We were glad to spend time in Chapel Hill with my family and so grateful that Abuelo is going to make a full recovery!
