Pickin' Time

This past weekend in honor of David's birthday we went to our favorite strawberry farm to go pickin'.
I was a little worried that going this late in May that all the good strawberries would be gone. Luckily there were still lots to pick and they tasted so sweet!

The great part about this farm is all the other fun things to do there.
We started off visiting and petting the goats.

Finley was a little reluctant to turn his back on the goats.
They seemed very excited to see us.

After a quick visit with the goats, we loaded up on a real tractor and headed to the designated picking area.

It was a quick little ride, but Finley enjoyed every minute of it.

Finally it was time to get down to business.

This year Finley didn't pick too many himself, instead he wanted us to hand the strawberries to him so he could put them in the bucket.

We went picking pretty early in the morning, so it wasn't too hot or crowded.

It didn't take us very long to fill up our three buckets. We made one last stop at the barn to see the baby animals before calling it a morning. We raced home and made 8 jars of homemade freezer jam before lunch. I think that should get us through till next season.
Time for homemade biscuits, Belgium waffles, and strawberry shortcake!

Preschool Program

This past week was Finley's last week of preschool for the year.
I can't believe how time has flown by!
Another 'school year' down.

It makes me sad with each passing school year, that we are one year closer to having a kindergartner. But not quite yet!

To celebrate the end of the year Finley's school had a cute program and picnic on the lawn. I was very impressed by Finley's involvement in the songs. He really likes to perform!

This is my favorite song they did.

And things one just cracks me up because he has been singing it around the house for the past month. I am still totally confused by what the words are or suppose to be.

Finley has really enjoyed his teachers and friends from school this year. I hope we get to stay with some of the same kids next year!

Three Little Birds

Rise up this mornin',

Smiled with the risin' sun,

Three little birds
Pitch by my doorstep

Singin' sweet songs
Of melodies pure and true,

Sayin', "This is my message to you-ou-ou"

Singin': "Don't worry 'bout a thing,

'Cause every little thing gonna be all right."

Singin': "Don't worry (don't worry) 'bout a thing,

'Cause every little thing gonna be all right!"

Say what?!

For Mimi - I hope this helps you smile and laugh!

Welcome to another addition of Say What!?
Here are some funny things Finley has said this past month.

- David and I were just starting out on our morning run with Finley in the stroller and Finley declared "Let's Rock and Roll". The funny thing is that neither David nor I ever use that phrase. Don't know where he picked that up from!

- Finley has been counting his fingers lately. He often counts them and then says "Mama, I have ten fingers!". It seems to surprise him every time.

- We were on our way to Finley's school this morning and stopped at a stop light where two school buses were side by side. Finley excitedly told me "Look, those school buses are neck and neck".

- While trying to put Finley to bed the other night, David was still at work :(. Finley was upset that he wasn't there and said "I don't want dada to make the money". It was so cute and sad at the same time.

- We recently attended an acapella concert that Uncle Donovan was in. All week long Finley has been singing one of the songs. "All the pretty girls on a Saturday night". When I asked him who the pretty girls were he said "Mama and Mimi".

- When asking Finley what treat he wanted the other night, he responded with 'Pine needles'. Not quite sure he remembers what those are.

- While running Finley is always so thoughtful and reminds David and I to 'watch out for the dog poop or don't step in dog poop'.

- Finley recently received a Buzz Lightyear action figure for his birthday. While carrying it around and playing with it he told me "Buzz is my friend. And Andy is letting me borrow him". I was so impressed that he remembered that from the movie!

- On another Toy Story note Finley has been saying "To Woody and Beyond". Not quite.
