Tumblebees

Fin man completed another fun summer at Tumblebees! He was fortunate enough to have the same teacher he had last summer and a friend from church in his class! He had a really great time getting his 'energy' out. Here are a few things he learned:

How to do a cartwheel. (well sort of)

I call this move a jump, tuck, and roll. (almost like a forward handspring)

Head/hand stand.

Pencil jumps.

High knee jumps.

Chin ups and walking up a wall.

Round the bar.

Jump into a pit of foam blocks.

Slide into a pit of foam blocks.

Balance on the beam.

And balance on the beam while cheesing for the camera.

He had so much fun and I can tell he is becoming a little more coordinated and a little stronger too. Finley always said that his favorite part of class was jumping on the trampolines. This kid loves to jump. Way to go buddy!

Choo! Choo!

Last Friday Finley and I joined some friends to go to the transportation museum down in Spencer, NC.

It is only about 45 minutes from our house so it was a fun half day trip! They had a traveling pirate exhibit of Blackbeard and the Queen Anne's Revenge ship.

To Finley's disappointment there wasn't a ship. I had to explain to him that the ship sank and what remains of it is under the water. But he did get to practice hoisting the flag!

We explored the grounds and looked at old buses, cars, and of course trains!

This retro school bus is awesome.

Allll Aboard!

Finley really enjoyed checking out the caboose.

And getting to look out from up top!

Next up was a 20 minute ride on a real train!

They even had the conductor come around and punch our tickets.

So fun!

This boy brings me so much joy.

Here are some of our friends!

Finley decided he wanted to take some pictures out the window.

Not too bad!

It was a fun day at the train museum! Thanks for inviting us friends!

Say What?!

5/23 - Finley and I went out with the Sister missionaries today. After a couple of unsuccessful visits we dropped them off and headed home. In the car ride back Finley said "I don't want to be a missionary." I asked him why and he said "It is too tiring." I told him it was hard work and maybe when he was older he would be up for it. He agreed that when he is older he would have more energy. As if he doesn't have enough energy already!

5/26 - During sacrament Finley leaned over and whispered in David's ear, "Did God make Peter Pan?" to which David responded in the affirmative - that God made everyone. Then Finley had a follow up question and asked "Why did God make pirates?"

5/26 - During my sharing time lesson today on the Word of Wisdom I asked the children if their parents had ever given them any warnings. When I called on Fin man he responded with "Not to kill." Um yep don't kill anyone!

5/29 - Fin is very into his smells these days . . . and grossing out his mom. While using the bathroom the other day (and taking a poop) Finley said to me "Smell the air mom, smell the air!"

6/11 - Today while we were playing I was dancing around the living room absent mindedly. Finley yelled at me "Focus!" "Focus on me!".

6/15 - This morning after breakfast David asked Finley to bring his plate to the sink. Finley replied with "You have to do it because you are the waiter."

6/25 - Today Finley wrote a little note to a friend and he really wanted to drop it off at her house. When I told him that Caroline was out of town he was disappointed, but he quickly started erasing her name and then asked me how to spell Rachelle. This boy moves on fast! Just a warning, if you are out of town, he has a long list of girls in waiting. :)

7/12 - In David's nighttime prayers he has been saying "And please help us not to take our blessings for granted". Without fail every time the prayer ends Finley asks "Why do we want to take blessings from Brandon?".

7/16 - Finley was a little spoiled last week while his grandparents were watching him. He received several new toys. Now he is constantly asking when Christmas is. I was trying to remind him of why we celebrate Christmas. His first answer was "Jesus' death". Then after I corrected him he asked me "When is Jesus going to come again?". I said that we didn't know that and he started to get upset. Then he asked when Jesus was going to bring us presents. I finally figured out that he was confusing Jesus with Santa Claus. Apparently we have a lot of reviewing to do!

7/17 - This morning I left a plastic cup on the stairs. When Finley walked down them he stepped on the cup and hurt his foot. He then yelled at me "Don't do it again. You're fired!". Sheesh! Maybe he was still awake while we were watching Celebrity Apprentice!

7/23 - When Finley got mad at me today he told me "You're not the girl I married." Yikes! I have no idea where he heard that before!

8/7 - Today Finley and I were playing a game of pirate-opoly. He landed on the free treasure before I did and won a lot of money. When I started complaining about it he said "Sorry mom, that's the way I roll!"

Dance Art Camp

Last week I introduced Finley to Dance Art Camp. DAC is a camp that is run through my mom's ballet school in CH. I went there when I was little, and then worked there when I was a HS student. Needless to say I was really excited for Finley to go to the same camp that mommy once did! We packed up and headed out to spend a whole week in CH!

Finley was really excited about camp and felt right at home at the ballet school.

Here he is with his wonderful teachers!

They sang songs, played outside, danced in the big studio, had snack time (Finley always said this was his favorite part), and did some art projects.

The theme for the week was holidays. So each day they did a craft centered around that holiday.

While Finley was in camp I helped my mom do a little purging and organizing around the house.

Then in the afternoons we spent time with Nani at her pool!

I also got to catch up with one of my old HS buddies who lives in CH.

Finley really enjoyed hanging out with pop pop and watching him shoot his bow and arrows!

Finley really wanted to try it, but it was way to hard to pull the string back.

We promised we would get him a kid version soon.

He did have fun finding and collecting the arrows though!

It was a fun week at Mimi & Pop Pop's house! Finley did not want to leave, but I think we were wearing poor Mimi out! He loved DAC and said he is going to miss all his new friends (even though he can't tell me any of their names :)). He can't wait to go back and do it again next summer!
