3rd Grader!

I can't believe the summer went by so fast! Finley has been back in school for going on three weeks now! We were all very excited when Finley got a phone call letting him know he would be in Mr. B's class. And to make things even better, his little bestie Jake is also in his class! Woo Hoo!

Unfortunately, another one of Finley's little friends ended up switching schools so we are super bummed about that. Luckily, his grandma Nanny, will still come over and visit us in the library at GG and help out. I love my library friends!

Finley agreed to try out a new backpack this year. He decided to snag my UNC backpack from soccer camp. It is huge on his back, but will definitely be sturdier than the last one.

I can't believe I have a 3rd grader! This is the first year Finley will switch classes for another subject (Math), get letter grades, take BOG and EOG tests, and be located on the upper hall of his school!

On the first day of school we had to walk down the lower hall and say hi to all his old teachers. Then we headed to the 3 - 5th grade hallway. I think poor David was having a harder time with it than I was!

We love this sweet boy and can't wait to see what he learns and accomplishes this year!

Winston-Salem Open

The last week of freedom before school started back up for Finley was a fun one. The Winston-Salem Open was going on and we get some pretty big names at the tournament.

This was our second year going to the tournament, but this year we signed Finley up for the kid's clinic on opening day. He got lots of free stuff and had so much fun playing tennis games.

The kids were divided up into groups and rotated around to different stations.

Finley's favorite station was getting to play against some UNC-G tennis players.

After the kid's clinic we headed to watch some of the qualifer matches.

While there we spotted Donald Young warming up!

After watching a few matches we called it a day! It was so hot out there and we were grateful that the kid's clinic was indoors.

On Wednesday Finley and I were able to go back to the tournament and see 5 different matches!

We bounced around quite a bit but got up close and personal with some big names.

We watched Steve Johnson win and were able to get his autograph after the match.

Because Finley is so darn cute he is allowed to get special priveledges and get really close to the players. He also scored us upgraded seats for the day session and we ended up sitting right behind Mardy Fish!

My good luck charm.

We got to watch Bautista-Agut play and he ended up winning the whole tournament! He gave Finley a high-five and his autograph.

Marcos Baghdatis lost, but we still enjoyed seeing this 'oldie but goodie'.

By the time the sun started to set it was onto the main event! We watched John Isner play against Coric. We ran into the Sweats there and ended up watching the match with them.

We were rooting for Isner, the local boy, but Coric ended up taking the win.

At the end of the match Finley went down with Andrew to try and catch a ball. Andrew and another very tall dad were going for one of the balls tossed into the stadium. They bumped into each other and the ball fell at their feet. Guess who was there to snag it? So, in a stroke of luck, Finley ended up with a ball signed by Coric!

Luckily the Sweats didn't go home empty handed. Andrea also caught this fun sized tennis ball.

We had such a great time watching tennis, rubbing elbows with the stars, and visiting with friends. Can't wait to do it again next year! And hopefully with David!
