1/19 - While visiting NYC we ventured over to Times Square and Finley got to take pictures with some of the people dressed up as characters. Of course you have to give them a few bucks to do this and when we did Finley kept asking "Why do Elmo and Mickey Mouse need money?" It was very funny.
1/20 - It was time to fly back home to NC and Finley who was finally feeling better said "I don't want to go home. I want to stay in New York because Michelle and Mishay live here and they love me and they don't want me to go."
1/30 - While I was putting Finley to bed tonight he said "Mama you are sharp". Confused by what he meant I asked him to elaborate he said "That means that you are beautiful." I think he was trying to compliment me, like when sometimes we tell him he looks so sharp in his Sunday best.
2/10 - Finley has been obsessed with watching the sun rise. He will often come in our rooms in the morning and ask us to come and watch the sun rise (or set) with him. One morning David walked by his room and he wasn't in his bed. Upon further investigation David found him behind the curtain waiting for the sun to rise.
2/14 - For Valentine's day Finley made me a board game. It is too cute and it is called 'How do you break the boat?' He and David constructed the game together. It makes me smile every time we play it.
2/23 - We had one of my friends Amy staying with us this past weekend. When Finley woke up and couldn't find her he asked "Who is going to play with me? Where is that woman?" Apparently Finley thought we had her visiting just to play with him :).
2/27 - Today Finley told me "My daddy is a dentist." When I tried to correct him and tell him his dad was a lawyer, he didn't seem to like that answer.
3/4 - Finley is playing soccer and after his first practice I asked him if he had a good time. He said "Yes, but I didn't score any goals". I tried to explain to him that sometimes you play defense and block the ball instead of scoring. He wasn't convinced it was a successful practice because he didn't score.
3/19 - Finley kept walking around the house this morning turning off the lights with a hanger and saying "It's alright honey, it's ok honey" He frequently repeats very southern phrases or sayings that I think he picks up from his teachers at preschool. Cause I sure don't say honey!
3/26 - Today Finley and I went out with the Elders to visit a family. Finley was not very excited about going and was beginning to throw a fit. I decided that maybe making him his own missionary name tag might get him excited about going. It worked like a charm and then he told me he needed to put stickers on the back of his name tag just like Elder Whittaker's name tag. It was too cute.
3/27 - We have all had bad colds over here. Finley is finally over his and David and I still have one. Sometimes my coughs sneak up on me and I can't completely cover my mouth in time. When this happens Finley yells and me and says "DON'T COUGH ON ME!"
Everyday - Finley is very into having us tell him stories about super heroes. He wants us to make up awesome and elaborate stories on the spot. It was cute the first few times, but now it is exhausting!
