Pickin' Time

This past weekend in honor of David's birthday we went to our favorite strawberry farm to go pickin'. 

I was a little worried that going this late in May that all the good strawberries would be gone. Luckily there were still lots to pick and they tasted so sweet! 

The great part about this farm is all the other fun things to do there. 

We started off visiting and petting the goats. 

Finley was a little reluctant to turn his back on the goats. 

They seemed very excited to see us. 

After a quick visit with the goats, we loaded up on a real tractor and headed to the designated picking area. 

It was a quick little ride, but Finley enjoyed every minute of it. 

Finally it was time to get down to business. 

This year Finley didn't pick too many himself, instead he wanted us to hand the strawberries to him so he could put them in the bucket. 

We went picking pretty early in the morning, so it wasn't too hot or crowded. 

It didn't take us very long to fill up our three buckets. We made one last stop at the barn to see the baby animals before calling it a morning. We raced home and made 8 jars of homemade freezer jam before lunch. I think that should get us through till next season. 

Time for homemade biscuits, Belgium waffles, and strawberry shortcake!
