For Thanksgiving this year we were suppose to go to Myrtle Beach to spend it with David's parents. Unfortunately, with COVID numbers on the rise we decided it was safer to stay home. It ended up being a really nice long weekend spending some much needed time together as a family, outdoors, and getting some projects done around the house.
The day before Thanksgiving David took the day off of work and we went up to Hanging Rock State Park to do some hiking.
The babies did pretty well but were a little hard to control. They loved hiking in the wrong direction and often off the beaten path.
We enjoyed a picnic lunch down by the falls!
It was a little colder out, which ended up working out well since there weren't many other people on the trails.
And Finley was quick to figure out how to get to the other side of the rivers.
The Sunday before Thanksgiving we had a mini Thanksgiving dinner with my family. My mom brought all the food and made everything super easy! Then we had tons of leftovers so didn't have to make much on Thanksgiving day.
On Turkey day we spent the morning indoors doing some crafty things.
Our local primary mailed us some cute turkey head bands which the boys enjoyed putting together but not wearing.
Then we decorated a gingerbread house while watching the parade on TV. Jackson enjoyed eating the gingerbread man.
And everyone kept eating all the candy!
We were still able to salvage some candy and stick it to the gingerbread house.
The boys also made cute lists of what they were thankful for. Pumpkin pie and Ms. Karen made several of the lists!
The one thing we needed to add to our leftovers from our mini Thanksgiving was turkey! So for the first time ever I cooked one!
It was a small "baby" turkey. It turned out really well!
We also recently finished the 6th Harry Potter book with Finley.
One night after the babies went down we made homemade frozen butterbeer and watched the movie together!
It was such a nice, low-key Thanksgiving! Even though we missed seeing extended family, we really enjoyed spending the long weekend together. We are so grateful for everyone's health and safety and hope it will continue!

Hiking at Blowing Rock is so fun. I LOVE those pics of you and Hunter in front of the waterfalls. Adorable. Love that you made homemade frozen butterbeer. I might need to look up a recipe for that!
