MerleFest 2018

To celebrate the end of my semester I decided to buy tickets to MerleFest. MerleFest is a weekend long bluegrass festival in Wilkesboro, NC. I didn't want to go alone, and David isn't a big music fan, but luckily I had a great friend who wanted to join me! Thanks Carries!

We got there pretty early in the morning and got to see the Kruger Brothers first. They've been around a long time and are super talented!

Laura and Nathan arrived in time to catch some of the act with us!

Next we headed back to the main stage to see veterans Sam Bush, Jack Lawrence, Jerry Douglas, Peter Rowan, and Joe Smothers.

After lunch we met up with my friend Marie who was also there with her whole family. She introduced us to Scythian.

They did not disappoint! Super fun and high energy group. We were on our feet dancing by the end.

We then hooked back up with Laura and Nathan to catch The Cleverlys and Dead Horses.

At last we made it back to the main stage for the headliner (in my opinion) for the day.

Rhiannon Giddens was performing and she is amazing! She used to be part of a NC group called the Carolina Chocolate Drops. She was also on the TV show Nashville as well. She has an amazing voice and so does her sister who sang with her. We had a great carefree day out in the sun enjoying great music to celebrate the end of another semester! Thanks for joining me Carries!
