Science Fair Project!

Finley recently participated in the science fair at his school. Third grade is the first year that students are in charge of their own projects. For Finley's project he decided to recruit friends and have them take a series of tests to see if they performed better or worse after exercise. We were hoping to prove that kids need more recess/PE in school! The first test was taken after no exercise, the second test after 5 minutes of exercise, and the last test after 20 minutes of exercise.

We found that overall students did perform better on tests after exercise!
This turned out to be a pretty big project and very parent involved (test creation, distribution, and grading). Luckily we have some awesome friends who stepped up and helped be our test subjects! We had 17 participants in total which helped create some meaningful data.
To our surprise all of Finley's hard work paid off! He ended up placing 1st for third grade in his school and moving onto the county level competition!

For the county competition he got to skip school and spend the day at the science center! Oh and he also had to talk to some judges about his project during a short interview. He did a great job and we had fun seeing all the other projects.

To our shock Finley was a "winner" in the 3 - 5 grade Guilford County science fair competition!

We prepared him not to get any recognition or awards, but we were all pleasantly surprised!
He was super excited to get a trophy and go up on stage! We are very proud of Finley and all his hard work.
Congratulations Finley man!
