Strawberry Pickin'!

Towards the end of May we headed over to Ingram's Farm to do our annual strawberry picking!

They started doing things a little differently this year, and instead of paying for whatever you picked, you prepaid by the gallon.

I really didn't have a good concept for how many strawberries were in a gallon so each of us took a one-gallon basket to pick.

Then we were committed to filling all five-gallon baskets to the brim!

It took about an hour, but the boys did great!

It was pretty hot out, but bearable.

The strawberries were delicious as always!

And we treated ourselves to homemade ice cream and strawberry lemonade at the end!

Here's what five gallons of strawberries looks like!

I got right to work on making our freezer jam! All 10 jars used only about a gallon and a half of the strawberries. So, we ended up giving a bunch away to friends and neighbors.
Maybe next year we will only pick 3 gallons. That should be about right! Someone please remind me!

Freezer jam is one of my favorite things in the entire world! I should learn how to make it!
