Disney Day 3: Animal Kingdom

Our second full day in the parks was at Animal Kingdom. By this point in our trip a lot of people had left town ahead of hurricane Ian that was taking aim at Florida. So, we ended up having the park to ourselves!

This was everyone's first time at Animal Kingdom!

We enjoyed the Safari ride and seeing all kinds of animals.

We were able to get closest to the giraffes.

I was so impressed by the Pandora section. It was just beautiful and magical!

Grammie & Abuelo watched the littles for us so we could do some big rides with Finley.

And is it really a Disney trip if you don't have a meltdown in public?

Because the lines weren't very long, we were able to meet Donald Duck!

And Mickey and Minnie!

I was worried that we might have to cancel our character meal towards the end of the week, so I was very happy we got to meet some of their favorite characters in person.

We took a train to a petting zoo.

They have lots of shows at Animal Kingdom. The Lion King show was fantastic!

And a good opportunity for a nap if you are three years old.

We got to ride Everest with Finley. Finley rode it a total of five times! Once was enough for me!

And Grammie & Abuelo took Finley on a very wet rapids ride.

We had some delicious food at this park and really enjoyed the beautiful scenery.

Favorite Ride:
David - Everest
Natalie - Na'Vi River Journey
Finley - Everest
Hunter - Triceratops Spin
Jackson - The Train

Favorite Memories:
David - The Lion King show
Natalie - Seeing the boys meet Mickey and Minnie
Finley - Eating lunch at Satu'Li Canteen
Hunter - Meeting Donald
Jackson - Meeting Mickey Mouse

At the end of the day, we learned that Disney would be closing down their parks for the next two days due to the hurricane and potential flooding. Even though we were supposed to have three more days in the parks, we were worried about losing power and being trapped in a hotel room with three kids. So, we packed up and headed home. This means we will need to go back another time to finish the rest of our trip. Date to be determined! Even though our trip was cut short, we packed so much into the days we were there, and the littles didn't seem to know what they missed.

I can't believe the timing of this! So lame that a hurricane messed up the plans you had been making for so long!

Animal kingdom is awesome. That safari ride is THE BEST. I think that's worth the price of admission right there. And I LOVE both the Lion King show and Everest! I haven't seen Pandora yet, but it looks amazing.

So happy you could have the park to yourselves for a bit!
