New Firepit and Patio

Ever since moving into this house David had some big ideas about putting in a patio and firepit.

Because of COVID, things were pretty backed up in terms of getting the project started, but we finally were able to get going in January. It took the company we hired a little over a week to put it in, but we are so pleased with the results!

David had thought about putting the patio in himself and I am so glad he didn't!

Seeing all the labor that went into the patio and how much work they did to make sure the area was level and even, there is no way it would have turned out as nice!

Of course, as soon as it was in, it was still a little too cold to use it!

But we finally broke it in a few months ago when we had our friends the Navarro's over for dinner and s'mores.

We snagged some great chairs at Costco and had firewood delivered just in time!

I still would like maybe two more chairs, but otherwise we were ready to host!

The littles sure did enjoy the s'mores!

Me and my girl Jess!

Here's what I've learned since we put in the fire pit. It's a lot more work than simply flipping the switch on our indoor gas fireplace. Also, I don't like the smell of smoke all over my clothes and hair. But I still think it's fun and we will definitely be hosting some nights around the campfire!

Y Basketball

This past winter Finley decided he wanted to go back to basketball at the Y.

It had been a while since Finley had played due to COVID, but luckily at this age most of the serious players are playing for their school teams so the level of play was competitive for Finley.

He scored at least one basket in every game!

Finley's biggest fans!

Finley was really good at bringing the ball down the court for his team.

I didn't have big expectations for Finley given how much time he had taken off from basketball, but he did a great job at keeping possession of the ball, passing to teammates, and taking shots! He did a great job and we had so much fun watching him play this season!

The Big Chop!

David and Finley really wanted Hunter's hair cut. I did not.

There was a long standoff in which Finley and David refused to get their own hair cut until I cut Hunter's hair. So eventually I relented. Mainly because it kept getting in his eyes, becoming a distraction, and because people kept calling him a girl.

His hair was so long that I felt it was necessary to take him to the professionals to have it cut!

And of course we couldn't leave Jackson out!

Ta-dah!

Before and after...

Jackson's hair cut was really just a trim.

Hunter's was much more drastic!

I miss those long locks! I really regret having his hair cut. It does make life much simpler and he can see a lot better, but he just looks so different and so grown up! Guess I can let it grow out again, but will it ever be the same?!?! :(
