the end of an era

The end of pre-school has arrived! I can't believe my little man is done with preschool and off to kindergarten next year! It is very bittersweet. He has been very busy at school these past few months. Here is what Finley has been up to. 

First Field Trip:  

We had our first class field trip to the Science Center. 

It was a quick trip but we got to see all the animals. 

And have a picnic lunch together. 

Look at this face!? This boy and snakes! He loves to scare his mama. 

I was in charge of Finley and his little friend Jack. 

It was a pretty crowded day there, but we hit up all the best parts of the museum. 

I swear I could sit in front of this tank for hours! We love the new aquarium section!

Mother's Day Tea: 

His class hosted all the moms for a Mother's Day tea. 

They sang several songs and feed us lunch. 

One of the highlights was a cook book the class put together. Each child came up with their own recipe and instructions. Finley's was for making chocolate chip cookies. His recipe called for 30 lbs of sugar! And you had to stir it for 50 minutes and put it in a 12 degree oven for 12 minutes. All of the recipes were pretty hilarious! 

Then the teachers took turns reading these little surveys about their moms and we had to figure out which mom it described. Mine was pretty cute, although I didn't appreciate being called 40! But some kids put down even older than that so I think I got off a little easy. 

We have had such a great experience this past year and loved Finley's teachers! 

End of Year Program: 

His end of year program was this past week. The whole school sang several songs and then we had a picnic lunch on the lawn. Of course I picked the wrong side to sit on and it was hard to see Finley! 

End of Year Party: 

We rounded out the end of school with a fun party at Jump and Fun. 

Finley has made some great friends this year and we hope we can have some play dates this summer.

I can't believe pre-school is over! I haven't broken down yet because I still have the whole summer with him, but I have a feeling when we go back to school I am going to be a mess!

Five year old Finley! 

I can't believe my baby is five and that he will be in Kindergarten next year! Yikes! I know I am going to have such a hard time when he goes to school. This little boy cracks me up everyday. I love getting to stay home with him and spend our days together. 

He is very smart, funny, and sweet. 

He is one of the greatest blessing in our lives. 

Now that another year has past we decided to do another interview with him. 

Here are his responses: 

What do you like about preschool? I like my friends.  

What don’t you like about preschool?  Nothing. 

Five things that make you happy: Going to McDonald’s, when I buy the Lego Movie video game, when I have computer time, when I can play, and when it’s my birthday.

What is the silliest thing you’ve ever done? Do a cannonball down the slide.

Would you like to play a musical instrument?  Yes a trombone.

What kind of job would you like to have?  Go to work like daddy does. 

If you could have a pet, what would it be? A snake!

What’s the most important thing that you do? Do my chores.

What’s the best dessert in the whole world? Sweet Frog. 

What kind of car would you like to drive? A taxi.

What’s the coolest place you’ve ever visited? Legofest.

What’s the most exciting adventure you’ve ever had? Being in a war. 

Who is your best friend? Brycen.

One thing you’re really good at: Doing flip flops on the bed.

One thing you wish you were better at:  Riding my scooter.

What scares you most?  Nothing.

I love this boy so much! I am lucky that he is in no rush to grow up. He still likes me to help him do most things. He loves cuddling with me especially before bed time. He is a great reader and can read books on a second grade level. He loves spending time with our family and is a very loving boy. We feel like the luckiest parents in the world. 

We love you so much Finley! I can't believe you are 5! 

Walking for Kidneys

Several months ago I started organizing a team to walk in the Triad Kidney Walk in High Point, NC. The goal was to raise money in my mother's honor to donate to the National Kidney Foundation. 

My mother lost her kidney function almost two years ago due to an auto immune disease called TTP. Since the loss of her kidney function, she has been on home dialysis to help her body remove toxins. We are currently waiting for a new kidney for her.

We were very blessed to have such wonderful friends and family donate to such a great cause. My mother, unfortunately, wasn't able to be there as she was home recovering from eye surgery (unrelated to her kidney issues). But that didn't stop us from getting out there and hitting the pavement!

After partaking in some of the festivities we made a nice banner to carry while we walked. 

Our team may have been small, but we were mighty! We were the highest fund raising team bringing in a total of $3,535! 

I was very impressed by the event and we had a great time! 

We walked for one mile and Finley rode his bike the entire time. Way to go Fin! 

It sure was a hot one out there! I think the temps got up into the 80s! 

Grammie & Abuelo were great supports and walkers! 

We love you so much Mimi! Next time around you will be walking with us!
